Employment East is a programme bringing jobs, self-employment, business start-up, training and upskilling opportunities to people living in the Social Investment Fund (SIF) Zones in East Belfast.
Funded by the Social Investment Fund (SIF), Employment East is the Belfast East SIF Zone employability project delivered in partnership between GEMS NI, Bryson FutureSkills, East Belfast Enterprise and Business in the Community.
We have a wide range of support on offer - this includes access to 100 job opportunities, training and development programmes, help to explore self-employment and assistance to improve employment prospects.
Employment East provides eligible participants with mentoring support, employment and self-employment advice, opportunities to access skills and personal development training, self-employment/business start-up support and resources and opportunities to secure one of the 100 paid job opportunities with a host employer.
Additionally, Employment East offers support to eligible participants who may be working part-time or in entry-level jobs, to upskill and improve their career prospects.
An Employment Forum, managed by Business in the Community has been established to support Employment East and create a dynamic platform that drives employment opportunities for participants.
Employment East will also host a number of job fairs aimed at bringing participants and employers together to explore current opportunities.
Employment East has given me the opportunity to undertake training in the security industry and be granted my licence. Without the programme, I wouldn't have been able to fund the training myself.
